Peru GO Mission Trip

Peru GO Mission Trip

I should like to thank you all for your prayers and messages of support for Roger Grange (Havering Branch), and my wife Elaine and myself (Southampton Branch) as we went to Lima, Peru, from 13-23 September on a ShareWord Global GO Mission Trip. I gave some prayer points in The Friday Update of 13 September and God wonderfully answered your prayers. The team of 15 were all kept in good health, we had safely throughout, and gelled brilliantly well together. The leaders were really helpful in sharing their previous GO Trip experiences and how best to go about each assignment, and the in-country hosts of Pastor Billy and his assistant Nathaly were superb in teaching us about local culture and other issues.

The team worked with five churches in Lima and evangelised in numerous markets and parks, as well as visiting two police stations, two hospitals and a school. Everywhere the Peruvians were extremely friendly and open to the Gospel. In total the team gave about 1030 Gospel presentations to individuals or groups of people with many then praying the prayer of commitment at the end of the Esperanza magazines we were using, equivalent to our HOPE magazines, or the Chispa (Spark) magazines for young people. We were always accompanied by an interpreter and someone from the local church so the new believers could be followed up and discipled. These people too were wonderful in their support.

Just one story: on our last day, Roger found a few Esperanza magazines he did not know he had and gave one to our driver, Juan Carlos, who took us to the airport. Another of the team, Valdir, came with us. He spoke Spanish and shared the Gospel with Juan Carlos, who indicated he would like to accept Jesus as his Lord and Saviour. He prayed the prayer of commitment when we arrived at the airport! See photo below with Elaine

To God alone goes the glory for His salvation and that of many, many others during the week.
